Calgary, ABRedefining the Beltline District
The project is designed to create a strong accent building as an entrance to the downtown core and the newly developing residential zone to the west in the Beltline District. The mixed-use project includes two 33-storey towers, combining a 390-suite Marriott Residence Inn and 303 multi-residential units. The exterior expression of both towers contrast each other using coloured patterned window wall.
The interiors were designed to cater to young and tech savvy professionals, with lobby and amenity areas that support active spaces meant for gathering. A coffee station and mixture of work and lounge spaces welcome tenants on the ground floor, while a top-of-the-line show kitchen, full fitness studio, games room and lounge area complete the amenity offerings.
IBI Group’s visualization team produced ten interior renderings for this ambitious hospitality project, making certain that what was modeled would ultimately be representative of the final building. A mixture of concrete tones and warm wood accents are contrasted by bold graphics and blackened steel elements to create a perfect balance of industrial edge while maintaining a sense of warmth.
SODO Residences also includes 1,000+ m2 of ground floor retail and two levels of underground parking with two additional levels above grade. The parking podium is clad in precast concrete with light boxes reflecting the colour and texture of the Rocky Mountains to the west.
